Master Bishop is the owner and Chief of Instruction at the Norwalk Taekwon-Do Academy. He began his Taekwon-Do training while living in Arkansas in 1978. Dedicating himself to the art, Master Bishop earned his black belt in 22 months.
He began teaching as an assistant instructor when he was a red belt.
In 1981, just after achieving the rank of first degree black belt, he was promoted to Chief Instructor of the Texarkana Taekwon-Do Academy in Texarkana, Texas. Master Bishop was also instrumental in forming the United States Taekwon-Do Federation, which was at the time based in North Little Rock, Arkansas. In 1983 he was promoted to second-degree black belt and earned the prestigious position of Chief Instructor at the USTF headquarters where he also held the position of Director of Operations.
Master Bishop relocated to Connecticut in 1985 where he established the Norwalk Taekwon-Do Academy. Shortly after starting the Norwalk Taekwon-Do Academy, he founded the North American Taekwon-Do Association. The NATA was based in Connecticut and had several schools throughout the northeast.
Master Bishop with his quest for knowledge continued his martial arts education by training in many different styes including, western boxing, Shaolin Longfist Kung Fu, Brazillian Jiu Jitsu, Judo, Kali, Weaping Willow Jujitsu, Hapkido, Aikido, freestyle wrestling and Muay Thai.
In July of 2006, Master Bishop was promoted to 7 th Degree Black Belt at a testing held in Las Vegas, Nevada. The
acclaimed
testing panel was comprised of some of the worlds most senior Grand Masters, including Grand Master Nam Tae Hi. Grand Master Nam is considered the Grand Master of Grand Masters and was instrumental in creating Taekwon-Do as a martial art form. Grand Master Nam is the oldest living Taekwon-Do Grand Master.
Master Bishop is a founding member of he United Taekwon-Do Alliance where he currently holds the position of Sr. Vice President.
